Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

JadeScan is developed and operated by CacheTechs ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information processed by the app's conversion service. You can contact us at info@cachetechs.com.

2. What stays on your phone

• Your scans and library. Pages you capture or import, your projects and the files you download are stored in the app's storage on your device. We do not receive them unless you start a conversion.
• Camera. The camera is used only to capture pages. Scanning uses your phone's built-in document scanner (Google's ML Kit document scanner on Android, Apple's VisionKit on iOS), which processes the camera images on your device.
• Photos and files you import. The app only reads the photos or PDFs you pick.
• App lock. If you turn on the app lock, fingerprint or face recognition is handled entirely by your phone's operating system. We never receive biometric data.
• Settings. Your preferences are stored on your device.

The app does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone or advertising ID.

3. What we receive when you convert

When you export a scan as Markdown, EPUB, PDF or Word, the app uploads it to our conversion service. We then process:

• The document you upload: a PDF of the pages you selected, its file name and size, and the format and options you chose. Pages may contain personal information if you photograph documents that contain it.
• The converted files we produce from it.
• An app installation ID: a random identifier created by the app when it is first installed and kept in your phone's secure storage. It lets the service keep your documents separate from other users' and apply your plan's limits. It is not derived from your phone's hardware or advertising identifiers, and it changes if you reinstall the app.
• Plan and usage information: your plan (for example "Free") and how many uploads and conversions this installation used in the current month.
• Technical logs: for every request, its time, the IP address, the app's user-agent string, the installation ID and a request ID, used to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.

4. How we use it

• to convert your pages into the format you asked for and let you download the result;
• to apply plan limits such as monthly uploads and file size;
• to protect the service against abuse, investigate errors and keep it running reliably;
• to answer you when you contact us.

We do not use your documents or data for advertising or profiling, we do not sell them, and we do not use your content to train AI models. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.

We process this information because it is necessary to provide the service you request, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working.

5. AI service providers

Depending on how we read a document and the options you choose (for example "Recognize scientific formulas"), our servers send page images, cropped parts of pages and the recognized text to AI models operated by:

• Moonshot AI (Kimi models), based in China, and
• Google (Gemini API).

They receive only what is needed to read or format the pages of the document being converted. They do not receive your installation ID, IP address or plan information. Their processing is governed by their API terms, and it may take place in countries other than yours. We may add or change providers; this policy will be updated when we do.

6. Sharing

We share information only with the AI providers described above and with the companies that host our servers, and only to run the service. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights, safety or security of our users or the service. We never sell personal information.

7. How long we keep it

• Uploaded documents and converted files are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload, or 24 hours after the last conversion finished if that is later.
• Deleting a document in the app stops its conversions and its downloads at once. Its files are removed from our servers no later than the end of that 24-hour period.
• Records without page content (file name, size, page count, conversion status and usage counters) are kept to enforce monthly limits and for our records while the service operates.
• Technical logs are kept in size-limited files that are overwritten automatically as new entries are written.

Save the files you want to keep in the app. We cannot restore files once they have been deleted.

8. Security

The app communicates with our servers only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Uploaded and converted files are kept in private storage that is not publicly accessible; access to the service's administration is restricted to authorized staff. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Your choices and rights

• You can use the scanner and keep scans on your phone without converting them; nothing is uploaded until you convert.
• You can delete any document you uploaded from within the app.
• Uninstalling the app deletes its local data and its installation ID. Data already on our servers is then deleted as described in section 7.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we have no accounts, we can only find data linked to your installation; contact us at info@cachetechs.com and we will help.

10. Children

JadeScan is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above.
